HKIBS Executive Vice President Prof. Wong Hei Yun Advances Two Major Academic Collaborations

From March to April 2025, Prof. Wong Hei Yun, Executive Vice President and Chief Scientist of the Hong Kong Institute of Biomedical Sciences (HKIBS), completed two landmark academic partnerships, strengthening HKIBS’ mainland China footprint.

From March to April 2025, Prof. Wong Hei Yun, Executive Vice President and Chief Scientist of the Hong Kong Institute of Biomedical Sciences (HKIBS), completed two landmark academic partnerships, strengthening HKIBS’ mainland China footprint.

 



1. Yuelushan Laboratory Collaboration: Prof. Wong, as Director of Chunlin (Hunan) Synthetic Biology Research Institute, signed an agreement to co-establish the Synthetic Biology Research Center. HKIBS will lead research in bio-pesticides, growth hormones, and endangered medicinal material biosynthesis to drive industry innovation.

 

2. Chengde Medical University Appointment: Prof. Wong was appointed Visiting Professor for a 5-year term. HKIBS will collaborate on TCM-biomedicine interdisciplinary research, talent training, and platform development to advance modern TCM and “New Medical Disciplines.”
